seashells-by-the-seychelles asked:I'm sadly what you would consider to be a northern "Yankee", raised in Maine all my life, but I envy the hospitality and manners and class that southern belles have. I'm not saying that I want to be a wannabe southern girl, but I want to become more polite and classy in how I go about things. Also, I've never had chicken and waffles and I have yet to try them, are they as fantastic as they're made out to be?
Hey now, I have plenty of Yankee friends that I love to pieces! Just because you are a northern girl doesn’t mean you can’t emulate the way we run the show down here—besides, I bet you have your own special charm about you, darlin’.
Also, chicken and waffles happens to be very delicious. Have you ever had a honey-and-butter chicken biscuit? Hot damn, lady. Those are delicious as well!
All I see pretty much are how southern girls make us northern girls seem like a downgrade. Southern bells are amazing yes, but so are northern girls. You guys have big open spaces and have a slower life with lots of fun. Us northern girls have deep woods and riding trails through those woods. We have lakes and rivers and fun too. We have a quicker pace because of our cities but so does southern states. We are the same. We have differences but essentially we are the same. Im proud to be from the north but I love the south also. Idk what people on this site just can’t let the northern southern differences go and be happy with what we have.
Now wait a second. I never once in this response said anything hateful about Northern girls. She wrote in to Lessons from a Southern Belle and I complimented her. Take a minute to read over what was said before you go tootin’ a horn over something that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
